This position is for any man or woman who is qualified by training and/or experience to perform the traditional tasks associated with the occupation of “Maintenance Person” in the metal working trades, by performing the following duties.

They include but not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Performing maintenance tasks assigned by the Manufacturing Support Manager or Production Manager to include solving problems in machine tools, general maintenance on machines, hydraulic diagnostics and repair, basic building maintenance such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical, A/C maintenance, tracking and charting all maintenance in Pioneers PM program (Preventive Maintenance), help support Pioneers TPM program (Total Productive Maintenance). Perform all tasks in compliance with national, state and local codes and laws.

Use initiative, knowledge and experience to recommend repairs and/or modifications to production machinery that will complement our LEAN vision.

In addition, when requested, perform safety repairs and facilitate OSHA inspections, keep records of safety inspections for such items as slings, hoist chains, forklift trucks, cranes and air compressors. At times, make local deliveries and pickups driving the company truck.

It is essential that this person must care about doing a good job and have a mechanical background and be familiar with the detailed mechanics of a range of machinery used for milling, turning and boring.
Must have the ability to work with minimal written or verbal work instructions to complete assigned task.
Must have the knowledge on how to use electric hand tools and air tools to accomplish assigned task.
Must be able to drive a fork lift truck and use cranes. Also must have knowledge of rigging and shop safety.
This position will require the qualified maintenance technician to perform tasks and duties of the job and maintain a clean, tidy, and organized work area, help maintain the shop floor cleanliness and help other employees eliminate clutter and promote a clean and organized workplace.
Must be able to work overtime at any time to insure shop machine tools that need maintenance do not affect production’s ability to meet the customer needs.
Must have basic hands tools such as but not limited to an assortment of wrenches, metric and standard, up to 20mm/¾”, various types and sizes of screw drivers, pliers, wire cutters, Allen wrenches both, metric and standard, up to 12mm/½”, hammers (steel, rubber and brass) and a tool box to secure them.

Must have BA or BS degree and 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in machine tool rebuilding and formal training in electrical codes and safety. Must learn, understand, support and uphold all PMB safety procedures including Lockout-Tagout.

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English. (Most instructions will be oral; however, the company has a number of written job or departmental procedures, and written safety procedures.) Ability to read a limited number of two-and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Person to hold a valid North Carolina Driver’s license and a clean driving record.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, consisting for the most part of rotating machine tools in the shop, and typical office equipment in the office. At times, the job could entail having to work outside for a period of time to repair or replace something in hot or inclement weather.
