In the mid 1950’s we became a qualified supplier of new bearings to General Electric, Westinghouse, Allis Chalmers, Western Gear Corporation, and a number of other OEMs. By the 1960’s, we had earned a solid reputation as a high quality manufacturer of industrial and marine babbitt bearings (with a first-class repair service).

Our manufacturing reputation led to the establishment in 1964 of a 27 year relationship with the Glacier Metal Company, Ltd., of the United Kingdom, at the time Europe’s largest manufacturer of plain bearings. Pioneer served as Glacier’s U. S. representative before the term "global economy" was coined. We provided sales representation and an "in-country" facility for some inventory, inspection and repair of all Glacier non-automotive products manufactured in the U. K.  Later, Pioneer served as the headquarters for Glacier Metal Co. Inc. of the United States, a Glacier wholly owned subsidiary. Our unparalleled opportunity to become acquainted with Glacier’s factories, methods, designs, product lines and noteworthy personnel, further enhanced our competence in our specialty.

In the early 1970’s, we began to manufacture more bearings for the power generation market by supplying General Electric with gas turbine bearings and Westinghouse Power Generation with steam turbine and generator bearings and seals.

During the same decade, we manufactured bearings for General Electric’s marine division, for "Trident" nuclear submarines.

In 1989, when "partnering with vendors" was popular, Pioneer was appointed the exclusive supplier to the Westinghouse Power Generation Business Unit ("PGBU"). For 5 years we supplied PGBU with all new babbitted bearings designed by Westinghouse. During the life of the agreement, we maintained quality and on-time delivery performance ratings in excess of 98%, winning numerous awards, including the honor of sharing with two other companies the designation "Supplier of the Year."

Our alliance with PGBU, now Siemens, continues to this day, in the form of the exclusive license we have held since 1989, appointing us the sole, independent authorized repair service organization for bearings designed by Siemens in service throughout the world.

Pioneer’s commitment to the power generation industry has continued to expand in the past decade. In 1993, we formed an alliance with ABB Power Generation, Inc., when ABB appointed Pioneer its licensee for the repair of ABB designed large utility bearings in service in North America. In addition, to serving ABB’s large steam turbine and generator end users directly with repair services, Pioneer provides repair services and new bearings to ABB for industrial, gas and steam turbines and generators.
