In 1989, Pioneer Motor Bearing was appointed the exclusive bearing repair licensee of the Power Generation Business Unit of the then Westinghouse Electric Corporation. The appointment was customer-driven. Westinghouse acknowledged that its customers should have direct access to a Westinghouse qualified and authorized, rapid response bearing repair service.

For Westinghouse, Pioneer was the logical choice: a stable, award winning Westinghouse supplier of new bearings to the Marine Division since 1956 and to the Power Generation Business Unit since 1974, with an active repair service dating back to 1920.

Westinghouse announced the Bearing Repair License in a press release in June, 1989.

We already had decades of experience repairing bearings designed by Westinghouse.  But as a licensee of Westinghouse, now SIEMENS,  we could offer Westinghouse customers something not seen before in the bearing repair market. We offered an OEM qualified and authorized repair service from an experienced, independent company.  A company with a long tradition of providing end users with a rapid response to their bearing repair requirements.

It's been no surprise that our team approach with such a leading technology global organization has provided SIEMENS customers for a decade with the finest, rapid response bearing repair service available in North America.

In response to high customer satisfaction, in 1994 the license was expanded and renewed on an "evergreen" basis.

Major Points of the SIEMENS License:

Pioneer sells direct to end users (and SIEMENS)

Pioneer has the exclusive right to use SIEMENS bearing and seal drawings and "other technology" in the performance of "services"

"Services" means the repair of babbitted products which are: (1) designed by SIEMENS for steam or combustion turbine generator units; and (2) which Pioneer is qualified in writing by SIEMENS to perform.

Now the license encompasses bearings from any machine, regardless of its MW rating.

Pioneer now can perform in the United States licensed repair services on any SIEMENS bearing from anywhere in the world. Under the license, we’ve repaired or remanufactured bearings from Europe, South America, and Asia.

Major Advantages to the End User of the SIEMENS Repair License:

The license covers the repair of babbitted products which are designed by Westinghouse, or SIEMENS, for steam or combustion turbine generator units.

Pioneer has the legal permission to use SIEMENS bearing and seal drawings and "other technology" in the performance of repair services.

Pioneer can provide its services straight to end users. No need to go through SIEMENS. Contact us direct!

The license covers bearings from any machine, regardless of its size or MHz rating.

Pioneer can perform in the United States licensed repair services on any SIEMENS bearing from anywhere in the world. Under the license, we’ve repaired or remanufactured bearings from Europe, South America, and Asia.
